Merck is a global pharmaceutical and chemical enterprise with around 40,000 employees in 67 countries. With the acquisition of Millipore in July 2010, a global leader in the life science tools market, revenues totaled around EUR 9.3 billion in 2010. The Pharmaceuticals business sector comprises innovative prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter products.
