AstraZeneca breaks ground on new China HQ in Shanghai, GBI

Construction of AstraZeneca (China)'s Shanghai Division broke ground at Zhangjiang High-Tech Park September 3 according to Xinhuanews.com.cn.

AstraZeneca will invest a total of USD 100 million into construction, which is slated for completion in 2012. The new division will serve as AstraZeneca's China headquarters and serve to integrate the firm's resources - the facility will also shoulder some of the responsibilities of the company's Asia-Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore. A training center and R&D center will also built.

At present, AstraZeneca has cooperated with 15 hospitals and seven universities or research institutions in China. According to GBI SOURCE, AstraZeneca has 27 registered products and 31 registered brands in China.
