Otmar D Wiestler, DKFZ - German Cancer Research Center

From 1984 to 1987 Wiestler joined the Department of Pathology at the University of California in San Diego as a postdoctoral researcher. In 1987 he moved to the Department of Pathology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. In 1990 he completed his Habilitation in pathology at the University of Zurich.

From 1992 to 2003 he headed the Department of Neuropathology at the University of Bonn, where he also served as head of the German Brain Tumor Reference Center, as coordinator of the collaborative research center SFB 400, and as medical director of LIFE & BRAIN GmbH.

On January 1, 2004, Otmar Wiestler took office as Chairman and Scientific Member of the Management Board of the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German Cancer Research Center, DKFZ).
