Astrazeneca gets mixed response to Seroquel

The US Food and Drug Administration has given a mixed response to a request from Astrazeneca to extend the use of Seroquel, a key drug for used for the treatment of depression and the group's second largest seller
AstraZeneca’s hopes of extending the uses of its blockbuster drug Seroquel in the US have met with a mixed response from a key panel of medical experts.

The extended release form of Seroquel is currently approved in the US for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Global sales of Seroquel were $4.5bn last year, making it AstraZeneca’s second biggest selling drug.
