Pharmaceutical Executive to publish special Dutch report next winter
Release Date: 2010-11-25
The Hague, Netherlands, 19 November 2010 - Focus Reports, the contract-publishing unit of Focus Communication, is currently preparing a special feature on the Dutch Pharmaceutical Industry. The special Dutch issue follows similar successful reports that Focus Reports has prepared in Europe, such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
In anticipation of the report’s publication early next year, select interviews will be regularly posted on pharma.focusreports.net
The report is particularly timely. A new government cabinet has just vowed to begin a “new era” in Dutch politics. 2010 and 2011 will be crucial years for shaping the future of Dutch research within the pharmaceutical sector. Indeed, over the last decade rising pressures to reduce costs and the time to bring products to market has led to increased outsourcing of both of traditional and non-core functions making contract research a strategic priority for pharmaceutical companies
Focus Reports will showcase the Netherlands as a country that, despite its small size, is emerging as a European frontrunner in its use of clinical trials and the PPP model as a tool to develop drugs. Despite a number of regulatory challenges, the Dutch pharmaceutical industry is growing on par with the rest of the EU. The report will feature the main trends that will define the future of the pharma industry in the Netherlands; key strategies for pharmaceutical companies to optimize their relationships with contract researchers; the globalization of contract research and offshore outsourcing in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe, China, and India and the competitive positioning of the Netherlands in this environment; industry ambitions to shape a new “pharma deal” and ensure the Netherlands remains an attractive investment destination and European R&D platform.
The country’s decision makers and most prominent personalities will be featured, such as:
• H.E Edith Schippers, Minister for Health, Welfare and Sport, H.E Maxime Verhagen, Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. H.G.M. Leufkens of The Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB), Willem de Laat of Top Institute Pharma, Riette Blacquiere from the American Chamber of Commerce
• Pieter Guelen from ACRON, Michel Dutrée from Nefarma, Jan Wisse from Niaba, Frank Bongers from Bogin, Bernard Mauritz from Neprofarm
• The heads of both international and local pharmaceutical companies, including: Rob van Aperen, of Pfizer, Hans Sijbesma of AstraZeneca, Eveline Loriaux of Roche, Geoff McDonough of Genzyme, Francois Debaillon Vesque of Servier, Ronald H.P. Brus, of Crucell, Dhr. Simon Sturge of OctoPlus
