Jürgen Fritze, PKV

Graduated in medicine in 1975, Dr. med. Jürgen Fritze continued his studies and post-graduated in neurobiochemistry in the Institute of Physiological Chemistry, University of Bochum. He concluded his doctoral thesis on purification and characterization of brain dopamine receptors in 1978. He is Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Frankfurt since 1997.

Besides his academic carrier, Dr. med. Jürgen Fritze was the fead of clinical research (phase I-IV) of Troponwerke (Bayer subsidiary) from 1991 to 1994. He is Editor of the scientific journal “Psycho-Neuro” since 1995. From 1996 to 2001 he was member of the advisory commission of the German administration for drugs and medicinal products (BfArM) and since 2007 he became member of the scientific advisory board of BfArM.

He is currently the Head of Medical Affairs of the German Association of Private Health Insurers (PKV) since 1997; the general manager and executive board speaker, respectively, of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie und Nervenheilkunde (DGPPN; German Society of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Neurology); the Head of the German DRG-institute.
